01 March 2011 - The Brera can be summed up as the best looking car currently on sale in our markets. Styled by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Brera is definitely one of the most beautiful cars on the road today, and speaking of pedigree, no other premium manufacturers had one so strong than one that bears the serpent badge.
Marketing director at Alfa Romeo UK, Nicholas Bernard, says: "Significantly, the Alfa Romeo Brera S isn't simply about brute force, it's about how the available power is transferred to the road and how the road surface is communicated back to the driver to bring new levels of sports handling and driver-focused confidence and involvement."
However, that is one of our problems with the Brera, yes it is beautiful, and yes it is well built, however if you turn your head slightly towards the oppsite page, you'd be hard pressed to even find tihs anyway more cinvincing than Kim Jong IL saying his countrymenis happy.
The thing is, this Brera is equipped with the rather nice 2.2 liter JTS engine which pumps out circa 180hp, coupled with a 6-speed automated manual Selespeed, you couldn't quite call it lack of performance, however when you consider its selling price of RM308,888; that ought to make you give another cold stare to yuorself in the mirror.
Is it worth it? Especially the 159 which was equipped with the same engine, gearbox, platform, drive, chasis, and everything? Yet you're paying a premium of RM120,000 and then loose 2 airbag, 2 doors and 2 speakers. If they ought to bring in the 3.2V6 then it would only make sense if you're trying to plonk RM368K on an Audi TT.
